We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join a professional services firm located in Jackson, MS. The ideal candidate will manage accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and support project teams with financial data and reporting. Responsibilities:

  • Manage client database and ensure compliance with contractual and insurance requirements.
  • Perform accounts receivable tasks, including invoicing, cash receipts, and collections.
  • Oversee accounts payable tasks, including payment processing and disbursements.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for contract documents and financial records.
  • Prepare journal entries, analyze financial data, and generate reports.
  • Reconcile financial data and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Prepare documentation for tax, insurance, and related applications.
  • Support project managers with financial analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in proposal and contract preparation, ensuring accuracy.
  • Manage multiple email accounts, prioritizing tasks and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of project accounting experience, particularly in general ledger management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint software is a plus.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software and systems.

Compensation:

  • $45,000 to $52,000
  • Strong benefits package
