We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join a professional services firm located in Flowood, MS. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate and efficient financial operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and evaluating existing procedures. Collaborating with leadership, the Assistant Controller will manage accounting operations, oversee essential financial processes, and provide actionable insights. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and dedicated to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts.
  • Document and improve accounting procedures.
  • Ensure accounts payable are processed and paid on time.
  • Supervise financial reporting, billing, payroll, and budgeting.
  • Complete accurate, timely bank reconciliations.
  • Verify trial balance and key account balances monthly.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights as needed.
  • Prepare or oversee financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and reports.
  • Manage daily reconciliation of customer payments.
  • Assist leadership with financial projects and reporting.
  • Maintain branch rosters and oversee postage meter processes.
  • Coordinate annual 1099 processing and compliance reporting.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
  • Minimum of one year of management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Effective at prioritizing and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Logical and proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

 

Compensation
