MAGCOR is seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its mission of empowering sentenced adult offenders with the tools for a brighter future. Dedicated to transformative change, MAGCOR provides realistic work experiences within Mississippi correctional facilities. The program extends beyond mere training, equipping participants with essential skills for long-term sustainability—from quality production processes to customer service and logistics. MAGCOR, officially recognized as the Mississippi Prison Industries Corporation as defined in §47-5-539 of the Mississippi Code, is a 501(c)3 that operates both a light manufacturing building metal goods and a farming operation staffed by and for the benefit of incarcerated individuals in correctional facilities throughout Mississippi. This position is charged with overseeing all aspects of the organization.

MAGCOR products include printing services, metal fabrication, office furniture, mattresses and furniture for dormitories, and correctional products such as bedding/towels and offender clothing. It also features the commercial farming operation for the feeding of inmates. Position located in downtown Jackson, Mississippi.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives in alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Lead and direct the day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and effective utilization of resources.
  • Provide visionary leadership in areas of correctional facility workforce development, reentry programs, and rehabilitation initiatives.
  • Develop, oversee, and ensure the financial sustainability of the organization through careful budget management, resource allocation, and diversification of revenue streams.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, correctional facilities, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program delivery.
  • Lead advocacy efforts and collaborate with stakeholders to support policies that facilitate the successful reentry of formerly incarcerated individuals.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team to deliver on the organization’s objectives, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate effective programs and initiatives, using data-driven approaches to assess and improve program outcomes.
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, engaging in public relations and media outreach to raise awareness of criminal justice reform and related issues.
  • Maintain effective governance and accountability, working closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular strategic, operational, and financial updates.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education | Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience | Ideal candidate has Experience working directly with incarcerated or formerly incarcerated individuals.
  • Non-Profit Leadership | Proven experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization, social enterprise, or related field.
  • Criminal Justice Expertise | Strong understanding of criminal justice, workforce development, and reentry issues.
  • Strategic Planning Skills | Excellent strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development skills.
  • Stakeholder Relationships | Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills | Effective communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Diversity Commitment | Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Funding Expertise | Demonstrated success in securing government grants, private funding, and other sources of financial support.
  • Rehabilitation Knowledge | Knowledge of best practices in prisoner reentry, rehabilitation programs, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Evaluation Skills | Familiarity with social impact measurement tools and outcomes evaluation methodologies.
  • Regulatory Navigation | Experience in navigating complex regulatory environments and policy landscapes related to criminal justice reform.
