We are seeking a Legal Assistant to support one attorney in a personal injury general litigation practice. This onsite role involves managing case documentation, maintaining deadlines, and assisting with litigation support tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable handling large volumes of legal documents in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage active litigation files from lawsuit filing through trial.
- Maintain litigation calendars and track court deadlines.
- Prepare and file pleadings, motions, notices, and subpoenas.
- Coordinate service of process and court filings (state and federal e-filing).
- Draft and assist with discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production,
- and requests for admissions.
- Review, organize, and summarize discovery responses and deposition transcripts.
- Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records and billing statements.
- Prepare medical chronologies and damages summaries.
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Communicate with clients, medical providers, experts, and court personnel.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- Maintain organized case files and update case management systems.
- Support settlement preparation and case closing documentation.
Requirements
- Four-year degree preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant legal or administrative experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle large documents.
- Ability to pass background checks.
Compensation
- $45,000-50,000
