We are seeking a qualified Controller for a nonprofit organization. This role is crucial for managing the accounting and internal control activities, ensuring financial stability, and supporting the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of financial management, budgeting, and accounting systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish system controls for financial management, budget, and accounting.
  • Approve financial transactions within designated limits and ensure proper handling.
  • Analyze financial information to prepare balance sheets, revenue and expense statements, and other reports.
  • Oversee maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, and insurance records.
  • Facilitate annual financial statement audits, 990 reports and coordinate with independent auditors.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Audit Committee, including scheduling meetings and presenting information.
  • Supervise and direct accounting activities and ensure compliance with FEC and IRS reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and file information returns and various tax returns with applicable governmental agencies.
  • Manage support staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related area.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Five years of experience in an accounting/finance supervisory role.
  • Experience with nonprofits preferred.
  • Proven leadership and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Compensation:

  • $120,000 – $140,000
