We are seeking Director of Marketing Communications candidates with specific experience in NPOs or corporations serving hunting, conservation, and outdoor enthusiasts. This role handles all internal and external communications, with a focus on social media expertise. The ideal candidate will design and produce social media content and act as a brand ambassador. The successful candidate will bring a strategic mindset and creative approach to marketing communications. Proven experience in building and managing effective communication programs is essential.

This key role is accountable for public perception of the organization. You will develop and implement policies and strategies for all communication initiatives, ensuring they align with organizational objectives and enhance the organization’s visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a cohesive communications strategy with a strong social media presence across various platforms.
  • Ensure internal and external communications align with the organization’s goals and advocacy work.
  • Manage media relations and maximize earned media opportunities for the organization.
  • Ensure consistency and quality control of all released information.
  • Support and coordinate with Board committees, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors, developing and implementing strategies in coordination with these elements.
  • Assemble and oversee a diversely skilled team, managing support/production staff, interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Direct work assignments and lead the internal communications team.
  • Utilize contractors for communications, advertising, public relations, and marketing.
  • Maintain readiness and awareness of risks and threats to the organization.
  • Track, monitor, and report on the effectiveness of communications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing for a large membership-driven organization or corporation.
  • Experience in conservation/hunting with an understanding of issues facing outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media, including channel development and platform optimization.
  • Extensive list of media contacts and experience generating earned media.
  • Proficiency in data visualization platforms to effectively communicate complex issues.
  • Clear and concise communication style with team members and senior management.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner and measure the effectiveness of communications plans.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

  • $125,000 – $140,000
