We are seeking Marketing and Communications Director candidates with specific MarCom experience in NPOs or corporations serving hunting, conservation, and outdoor enthusiasts. The ideal candidate will excel in social media communications, design, and content creation, acting as a brand ambassador for the organization.

This key position will report to the CEO and comes with great responsibility to be accountable for public perception of the organization. In this role, you will recommend policy and strategy for all communication issues and be instrumental in establishing and implementing communications programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a cohesive communications strategy, encompassing social media platforms, traditional marketing channels, broadcast email, SEO optimized websites, and video and audio content
  • Ensure that the organization’s advocacy work is effectively communicated internally and externally, aligning with its goals
  • Manage media relations and maximize earned media opportunities
  • Maintain consistency and quality control in all released information
  • Collaborate with the appropriate committees, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors, providing necessary support and developing strategies and activities in coordination with these organizational elements
  • Build and manage a diverse team, including support/production staff, through recruitment, orientation, training, and assignment planning
  • Coordinate the use of media personalities and spokespeople, utilizing organizational resources effectively
  • Oversee internal communications and coordinate with contractors for communication, advertising, public relations, and marketing needs
  • Foster an environment of readiness and alertness, ensuring awareness of risks and threats to the organization
  • Track, monitor, and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably in a large membership-driven organization or corporation
  • Experience in conservation and hunting, with a strong understanding of the challenges faced by outdoor enthusiasts
  • Demonstrated expertise in social media, including channel development and platform optimization
  • Proven experience in generating earned media and an extensive network of media contacts
  • Proficiency in using data visualization platforms to effectively communicate complex issues visually
  • Clear and concise communication skills when working with team members and senior management
  • Results-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and measure the effectiveness of communication plans
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
